Gm driven story test Empty
PostSubject: Gm driven story test   Gm driven story test EmptyTue Aug 14, 2012 7:35 am

Something we as a staff have wanted to try out here on the Conduit is a storyline driven by a GM (Game Moderator) Basically the premise is a group of players will get together and participate in a story led by a GM. The setting will be set by the GM and the players will have to interact with and handle situations thrown at them. Here is how we would like to attempt to do it:

The GM will post a plotting board giving a basic and vague outline for the story. 3-4 players will sign up and participate

The GM will then start the topic, the original post will have the time and location stamp, a general description of the setting and a basic beginning. From there the players will establish a posting order and at the end of each ‘round’ the GM will post. These GM posts will consist of responses to player actions, environmental changes or occurrences that will effect the player and answers to questions posed by players.

The story will continue to go along in these structured rounds until the end of the plot. At this point if any rewards that are set for this event they will be handed out to players. Rewards can be items in game, the ability to come up with a new artifact or the next GM storyline or a banner (when this ad-on has been introduced)

Now please understand that posting with a GM will be different then a normal plotline. You can never assume an action is successful. For example if you take a shot at someone or something, even an NPC, the GM will confirm or deny the shot and describe the effect. Likewise with any scans, computer interactions or general interactions with the surroundings. Likewise when questioning an NPC. To initiate one of these RP out the action but leave out the outcome. On the bottom of the page put an OOC comment in-between equal signs asking the success of the action. Ex:

=What does the NPC Flo say to the question posed to her?=

This allows the Gm to know you need something from him or her to do your part of the story.

So now that we have a handful of players we wanted to open up a test GM story to see how well it goes and the reception it gets. Right now I’m looking for volunteers who would be willing to play along in this guided storyline. I’m looking for 3-4 players.

The general storyline, while still being written, will be a murder mystery. When it comes time to start more details will be supplied. If you have any questions please ask them here, and if your interested speak up!
