Planet Rorgar Empty
PostSubject: Planet Rorgar   Planet Rorgar EmptyTue Aug 14, 2012 12:18 pm

I have a VERY rough idea of a plot that involves a party of 4 or 5 traveling into Rorgar. Turn base. Read through and let me know your thoughts! All questions and comments welcomed!

SWAT had given Velox another mission. He had recently been promoted from Class A Agent to a status known to all new hires in the Soldiers Working Against Terrorism agency as STSC – Super Top Secret Classified. It seemed that SWAT had an acronym for everything.

The mission required Velox to travel into the realm of Rorgar. Velox had tried his best to get out of the mission, knowing that in Rorgar was where the dwarves called home and that they would probably not take too kindly to his return. Worse, was that his mission actually required him to interact with the dwarves!! No amount of pleading or begging from Velox could get him out of this mission.

SWAT put together a team of Class A agents to investigate a disturbance in Rorgar. Velox knew that the agents handpicked for his team were all fresh ranked Class A agents and were eager to finally see the world of Rorgar. Velox decided that since he had to go on this stupid mission, he would choose who his team would be and argued that the new Class A agents would only hinder his mission.

SWAT, not wanting to argue any longer with Velox allowed Velox to create his own team to take into Rorgar to complete the mission. With a feeling of accomplishment, even if only a minor victory, Velox using his STSC status, tapped into SWATs extensive database to find a team of fighters who had been to Rorgar more than once and knew their way around a battle. For Velox was certain they would have to battle.

The mission: There is a rumor that a virus has infected the Dwarves of Rorgar. As of now, the virus only seems to be affecting Dwarves, but SWAT is worried that the virus may adapt and spread to other systems which may cause a shutdown of Conduit!

• SWAT wants the virus contained by any means necessary. (There is no worry of Dwarven extinction as the infected are all programs that can be re-written)
• SWAT wants any intel on who may have released this virus
• If any further information can be provided on who started this virus, SWAT will increase the reward

The reward: SWAT is a very big organization and thus gives out very big rewards. Each individual receiving more than their fair share of credit, local currencies, weapon upgrades, artifacts, whatever loot is found during the mission, etc. (Just a rough idea)

The restrictions:

• Flying is prohibited.
• Must wear Rorgar clothing. (Not sure why, but sounds like a good restriction.)

The virus that the dwarves are affected with does not have a very noticeable physical appearance. (they don’t walk like zombies or drool everywhere) The virus actually modifies their code causing them to behave even more coordinated than they normally do. They will appear as normal creatures, but will attack seemly at random. Because of their strength, talents, and constructs, they will be a vicious enemy.

Any ideas?

Computer problems, call Copland.

Another restriction you should put in is that Rorgar automatically locks out modern and futuristic gear. Firearms won't work unless they are steampunk by design or have been modified to switch to a form that would work on Rorgar. For example, Copland's keytool is all sorts of tech but turns into a pocket watch with steam punk like functions when on Rorgar. His air board also turns into a flying carpet. His pistol, however, is not modified and therefore would be unusable while Copland is on the planet. So SWAT will have to go in with either crossbows or the upgraded rifles.

Can you elaborate a little more on the effects of the virus? Does it make the programs more hive mindish, or does it jack up their abilities as tacticians?

I was definitely thinking of restriction technological weapons, but wasn't too sure how recptive people would be with that. Well, here's the theory I was following with the virus,(and correct me if I am overstepping) but I was planning the virus to actually be a high level hacker not only enhancing the capabilities of the infected, but working to spread the virus everywhere in order to bring the whole system down. what makes it so potent is that the target system, once infected, comes under the control of the hacker, once the hacker has either elimated all avatar players, the hacker would then self detonate every infected "being", thus brining down the entire system. Motivation? Hacker is getting paid a LOT of "REal Life" money to bring the work "out of the game" and back into reality.

Also, that was why Velox chose to create his own team, although SWAT is outrigged with the latest and greatest in technology and weaponry, they would be useless in Rorgar with those weapons. Velox is one of the few that sticks to magicked melee weapons.

~Thanks for responding!

I've been talking to Glitch about this plot idea. We have a few 'backstory' like ideas that should probably go up before any sort of new war. This way we have more lore out there for players to expand upon. Please keep working on this draft so that we can have something right away for future site wide events.
